In a series of material investigations Helene explores the metamorphosis of the future body.
What kind of human enhancements will be possible in the future, and where will we draw the limit for the human individual? In this project Helene has researched biometrics, specifically facial recognition, and created a piece of face jewelry inspired by this technology. The work highlights the precarious balancing act between convenience, privacy, and the creeping reach of digital surveillance.
While unlocking a phone with a glance is undeniably convenient, every technological leap carries significant risks. As our biological traits are converted into permanent digital code, we move toward a world where our very identity is no longer ours to own. This shift introduces profound ethical dilemmas: when our faces become our keys, they also become our trackers.
What will our relationship with technology look like in the future? Where do we draw the line for what is ethically acceptable - or have we already surrendered our control to the algorithms we created?
Perhaps these metallic adornments are more than just jewelry; they are the armor we will need to protect our humanity in a post-private world.
