Through this work, Helene has investigated the piercing - not just as a finished aesthetic, but as a transformative instrument we use in our relentless pursuit of beauty.

The project questions the limits of self-modification: How far are we willing to go to achieve an ideal? At what precise moment does an attractive ornament transition into an uncomfortable burden? To examine the relationship between the object and the wearer, the project is structured into three distinct layers:

The External Skin (The Object):This layer focuses on the physical ornament itself. Inspired by traditional decorative patterns, these pieces act as "instruments" designed to enhance and modify the human form.

The Internal Skin (The Interaction):This layer explores the sensory experience of wear. It investigates the intimacy of metal meeting flesh - how the ornament feels against the body and the physiological reaction it provokes.

The Imprint (The Memory):The final stage of the work documents what remains once the object is removed. It captures the temporary or permanent marks left behind, questioning the impermanenceof beauty versus the lasting impacton the physical body.

This investigation centers on the "after-image" of adornment. By documenting the imprints left on the skin, the work highlights the physical dialogue between the human body and the objects we choose to integrate with it.
