Helene Kask

A research-driven artist whose work operates at the intersection of jewelry, technology, and science.

Helene Kask explores speculative futures and the protective qualities our bodies might need for survival. Her work inhabits the tension between anxiety and wonder, balancing the clinical nature of science with the

intimate vulnerability of the human body.

Talismanic Bodies

A Speculative Futuristic Journey Through Bodies and Spaces

In Helene´s MFA project (2026) she investigates how jewelry can function as a speculative method to examine possible futuristic scenarios and explore the bodily protective qualities we may require to survive. This body of work is grounded in two conceptual and theoretical frameworks - Speculative Craft and The Hybrid Laboratory - drawing inspiration from posthuman and more-than-human philosophies. The jewelry pieces she has created ask a series of ”what-if”-questions, functioning as catalysts for the expansion of thought, encouraging the dream of the impossible becoming possible.

The Hybrid Laboratory

A space for dreaming, experimentation & investigation.

Helene refers to her studio as The Hybrid Laboratory. She explains that the name reflects a total blending of disciplines: biology, science, technology, philosophy, and craft merge into symbiotic assemblages - a seamless fusion of reality and imagination.
